Hair turned blonde from dye?
I dyed my brunette hair blonde, then i dyed it back to brown. I got it dyed a bit darker so it would fade to my natural.
Now it is an ugly mess!
The top half (2 inches) is my lovely natural color but the bottom half (4 inches) is now dull light blonde?!!! It is also very thin with many more split ends.
I just started using organic shampoo and conditioner containing biotin. I don’t know if that will help.
Can someone please give me some advice on what to do? Cut or dye? thanks.
I do not want to keep dying my hair. Somehow, I want my natural hair color. I do not want to trim it all off either because it would be VERY short!

Firstly, after lifting your hair to a blonde then going to a brown, you must fill your hair and add all the red / warm tones that you previously lifted from bleaching before you apply a brown tint to go back to your natural colour. Not doing so will cause a very muddy colour and un even colour results.
The reason why your bottom 4 inches remained blonde is because it is the most damaged, the most porous, meaning it will not grab onto the colour- the hair follicles are open and doesn’t retain the colour molecules, whereas the hair closest to your scalp is healthy and retains the colour.
I hope you didn’t use permanent dye on your blonde hair, because that is just causing it to get more damaged. If you’re going darker, there is NO reason to use permanent dye. Use a demi-permanent instead, with a 1.9% developer. Demi Permanent just deposits colour and is very conditioning to the hair.
My advice to you now:
Go to a salon and get your hair professionally corrected. If you really are on a budget and can’t afford a professional colourist, Go out and get a very good brand of dye, I suggest Wella Color Touch (a demi permanent) with the Wella developer at 1.9%. Do not use permanent. I would apply the colour to the areas that do not hold colour in very well first, then process for about 15 minutes, then to the rest of your hair. Process as directed, usually 20 minutes, for you I’d keep it in for 35. The demi colour only deposits, so it will not damage your hair if kept in longer.

Remember, use shampoos and conditioners that are of high quality. Suave, Pantene, etc, all have a high amount of sulfates, try looking into an organic brand like Abba Pure Moisture. The only way for you to keep your hair as long as possible without cutting it off is to keep it healthy!
